The Different Levels Of Hotel Lodging

Posted on

There are many different quality levels when it comes to hotels, so you have lots of options when you're looking for a place to stay away from home. You can't just go by the price of a room since they vastly fluctuate depending on location, time of year, and nearby events. However, you can see what sets each quality level apart if you pay attention to certain details.

One-Star Hotels

Most one-star hotels are simply affordable places to sleep with minimal extras, services, or amenities. They're typically privately owned (although there are one-star chains as well) and located near major roads or highways. If you need a place to stay for a night or two but have very little money,  it can be a convenient option.

Budget Hotels

A budget hotel is one step above a one-star hotel, and its cost reflects that. You can expect to find slightly better rooms, a few more amenities, possibly a restaurant or pool, and a higher level of security. At the same time, you can get a room at a budget hotel for a lot less than typical hotel costs.

Some popular chains for budget accommodations are Motel 6, Super 8, Travel Lodge, and Econo Lodge. Hotels at this quality level won't usually require a deposit for incidentals, and they're perfectly acceptable for a quick night of sleep while traveling. However, you'd probably want to choose something better for a more extended stay or a vacation.

High-Quality Hotels

A high-quality hotel is an establishment that is more than adequate for you and your family. You won't be spending outrageous prices or expect any royal treatment during your stay. You can expect some basic amenities, like a fitness room, swimming pool, restaurant, bar, etc.

A hotel at this quality level will be safe and comfortable. The rooms will be clean, and it will be a good place to stay while you explore an area, attend an event, or take a vacation. Some popular high-quality hotel chains are Holiday Inn, Days Inn, Best Western, and Hampton Inn.

Luxury Hotels

A luxury hotel is a top-of-the-line establishment that will cost you a pretty penny, but it will be worth it if you can afford it. You can expect a great room, with every detail carefully designed, from the bedding to the bathroom countertops. Most will also have state-of-the-art amenities, such as a spa, upscale restaurant, bar, fancy lobby, etc.
